Greg Glick is a local hero from Lincoln, IL where he has played guitar professionally for over fifteen years. Glick possessed a love for the blues throughout his childhood, earning strong influence from both downtown Chicago clubs and local record stores (where he swooped up projects by many of Texas' hottest blues acts). Influences have been vast throughout Glick's extensive playing career, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Lee Vaughan, Albert and Freddie King, "Hound Dog" Taylor, Buddy Guy, and John Lee Hooker. There are even hints of Jimi Hendrix in his unending onslaught of in your face attitude. Glick first began earning a regional reputation throughout the Springfield, IL scene, playing with some of the area's most revered musicians, including Springfield Shaky and John Sauter, L'il Higgy and the House Rockers. He's also joined Dave Sheets (former harmonica player for the Pure Gravey Blues Band) for some traditional acoustic blues sessions. Glick possesses a stinging, gutsy, straightforward approach to guitar playing that's reminiscent of his influences, placing him as one of today's hottest blues guitar slingers. "Playing the blues and keeping it alive means a lot to me," he says. " Truly the best way to enjoy the music is to hear it live." ~Written by Andy Argyrakis/ Spring 2002 |
